Food Factor challenge release is almost here!!

So, the release is in a few short days and the Crushing Techno Tigers are EXCITED!

We have our release party all set and can't wait to discover what the full challenge contains. I'm not sure what the kids are more excited about the robot or the project :)

Well, this is no longer our rookie season. This means that we must move forward and shed last year's team number, even though we were quite attached to 2562, we are ready to embrace, enjoy and shout this year's team number...

Food Factor season is here!!

Our 'special package' arrived!!

Last night we gathered, talked, laughed and kicked the 2011 Food Factor season into gear. We opened that box, unrolled the mat and assembled this year's course in record time.

Now we are ready to pick up right were this smart and talented left off last season.

Sharing The FLL Message At The School Talent Show

Today the kids all got on stage in front of the whole school and, while wearing their CTT team shirts, spread the word about FIRST & FLL and performed in the school talent show.  These kids are just amazing!

Crushing Techno Tigers Fight Multiple Sclerosis!

Today I was so proud of the Crushing Techno Tigers team!

They spent their time, energy, and wonderful Saturday to "do a good thing".  Today the team, along with many parents, participated in the Walk MS event at Troy High School in Troy Michigan.  One of the kids told me today they felt 'Happy to walk and help people that struggle to do things I can do every day like ride my bike or button my shirt".

The MS walk in Troy was a blast. Although we had fun and got to talk with our friends, we raised a lot of of money for the multiple scleroses society, we also helped many people that have MS. We even brought our parents along to raise even more money, and to motivate us to keep walking.

Last Lego blog update of the year.

In their very first year the Crushing Techno Tigers accomplished the following:

• Created a robot from a few buckets of individual legos
  
• Programmed the robot to successfully complete an impressive set of tasks
  
  • Many of these programs used complex code
• Gained the respect of many FLL teams through what their performance!
  
• Created a WILDLY successful blog!
  
  • 2,500 blog views
    
  • From 32 different countries
    
  • Learned what a blog was
    
  • Learned how to post to a blog
    
  • Learned a some fun information about the countries that viewed our blog
• Won 4th place overall in Flint (out of 56 total teams)
  
• Won a 1st place trophy for Innovation and Strategy
  
• Learned a TON while completing their research project
  
  • About the body, its functions and systems
    
  • About blood clots
    
  • About how to conduct an interview with professionals in the workforce
• Have programmed the robot to achieve 395 out a possible 400 points

This is merely a partial list!

The kids had my respect right from the very first meeting and I could not ask for a better crew to work with

370 in 2 minutes and 24 seconds

Guess what? The Crushing Techno Tigers got 370 in about 2 minutes and 24 seconds out the 2 and 1/2 minutes we had on the robot board at the C.T.T HQ!
